New York Banned on Single-use Plastic Foam: What Else Can We Do to Reduce the Pollution Caused by EPS

Have you  heard that New York has banned on single-use plastic foam containers such as takeaway food boxes, takeout clamshells, cups, plates, bowls and trays?
These single-use plastic foams are mainly made by expended polystyrene (EPS). After the ban was issued, New York became the second largest ban on restaurants and other businesses in the United States after Chicago, Honolulu, Boston, and Washington.
The reason why America ban the polystyrene in those cities is that polystyrene often ends up in marine environments, where it gets gobbled up by animals, causing the digestive system to be blocked and eventually starving.

With the emergence of environmental problems such as global warming and sea level rise, the damage made by polystyrene deserves our deep thought. So what else can we do to reduce the pollution caused by EPS besides banning single-use plastic foams?
At first, polystyrene foam material for recycling must be bagged, bundled, boxed, or banded for internal handling by using polystyrene compactor because it has big volume and it’s difficult for us to store or transport. And there is a compactor called GREENMAX which can dispose polystyrene efficiently. APOLO series is one type of GREENMAX that is suitable for handling EPS as its medium price and advanced technology.
What’s more, EPS screw compactor APOLO also can dispose XPS, PSP and EPP. After compressing, these materials will be further manufactured by other machines. And with the process by APOLO, these scraps will become treasure like pellets which can transform into moldings and photo frames.

In conclusion, it’s of great importance and significance for us to deal with EPS correctly by recycling. In this way, EPS screw compactor not only protect our environment by recycling, but also can create great economy value for the society.
