Co-op has become the first retailer signing of plastics recycling program (Pirap), also called on other businesses to follow.
The supermarket chain will fully support Pirap program, the British Plastics Federation and prior packaging and film associations launched last year. It aims to develop a flexible and sustainable plastics recycling sector which provided a cooperation strategy for the plastic packaging supply chain operations in the UK, so the British government achieved 57% of plastic packaging recycling targets in 2017.
Plastic Packaging Recycling
Minister of Co-op environment Iain Ferguson said: “We are proud to support this agreement, I believe that each member plays their role in the recycling of plastic packaging, which is vital to our commitment to increase the recyclability of the packaging. but from a fundamental change, it must be supported by the entire industry, we may be the first retailer to sign the agreement, but we want to take this opportunity to appeal to other retailers and suppliers to join our team. ”
Throughout the supply chain, currently 48 companies have supported the plan, including INTCO GREENMAX recycling, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, Lexus, Veolia and so on.
