Recycle EPS Foam by EPS Foam Densifier: Giving New Life to Styrofoam

According to Earth Day, we produce more than 14 million tons of styrofoam every year, and 25 billion styrofoam cups are thrown away every year in the United States alone. However, the recycling of styrofoam is increasing throughout the United States own to the application of styrofoam densifiers.

The quantity of Styrofoam is very large. Unfortunately, people have always wrongly thought that Styrofoam cannot be recycled. Styrofoam can’t be recycled is wrong. Styrofoam was originally a kind of EPS recycling raw material and urgently needed by the recycling center, but if these materials are placed in a landfill, they may take many years to decompose. It’s very dangerous.

When we throw EPS foam into recyclable trash cans, we should understand that it may have the potential to be recycled. However, statistics show that EPS foam only accounts for 1% of landfill waste. Fake data from flying around concealed the recycling status of this material. In fact, EPS foam recycling is not that bad.

EPS is everywhere, but it is known for being difficult to recycle.  However, foam recycling is often overlooked by businesses. The main reason is that many of us think it is just a small problem. Although individual households may not be able to easily recycle EPS waste, companies that generate large amounts of EPS foam waste have more options.

Companies that produce a large amount of EPS foam can be equipped with EPS foam densifiers. The principle is to feed the EPS foams into a grinder to cut them into small pieces, and then move them through the equipment to compress the EPS to a small part of its original size, thereby forming a dense compressed material block.

The EPS foam can also be heated until it essentially melts into a compressed paste, which is then squeezed out by a device called EPS densifier and formed into lumps. Finally, the dense EPS foam blocks were shipped and sold to the manufacturer.

The dense EPS may be shipped to countries such as Malaysia or sent to one of the few US manufacturers that use styrofoam to make recycled products. From there, the dense EPS can be converted. It can be ground, melted, drawn into threads and cut into small particles, and then used to make photo frames. Recycled EPS can also be used in construction, manufacturing composite building materials, and architectural modeling.
