This year’s double 11 shopping festival, e-commerce logistics orders reached 1.352 billion pieces, the generation of express packaging waste can be imagined. Among them, the huge amount of foam plastic has caused great difficulty in recycling and disposal.
At a resource recycling station in Shanghai Nanqiao town, discarded foam plastics can get its second life. With the policy support of the municipal government, the area has purchased an EPS densifier from INTCO recycling. Here, after strong extrusion and high-temperature hot melting, the foam will be melted at a ratio of 90:1 and shaped into dense foam ingots, which allows a container to hold 25 tons of foam.
Subsequently, the melted EPS ingots will be recycled by the renewable plastic production enterprises to produce PS pellets which will be used as raw materials for the production of foam decorative moldings, photo frames, picture frames and other foam products for sale, and even exported overseas.
Nanqiao, a recycling station, can process about 300 kilograms of waste foam per day, converting waste into five or six thousand yuan a ton of raw materials, and can earn about 25,000 yuan a month. On the other hand, in recent years, the price of raw materials for recycled plastics has risen, which has caused headaches for manufacturers. This new set of disposal methods can meet environmental protection requirements and meet the needs of manufacturers.
Nanqiao town’s EPS recycling program is worth spreading across the country. We hope more polystyrene waste will be recycled. At the same time, INTCO recycling will recycle the compressed EPS waste and eventually make frame products and supply around the world. This is a complete recycling system, worth promoting and adopting.
